School News

Jill Vavasour, Headteacher at Knightlow CofE Primary writes about Knightlow’s ‘Rebirth of Nature’.

“As part of our Arts Week in June, we focused on stewardship of the natural world, and Knightlow created our very own art installation in the form of a Rebirth of Nature. This was in response to a flashmob event in Bath in April when observers were asked to take part in a funeral for nature. We wanted to think instead about what the children could do to care for the wonderful gift God has given us in our beautiful world.

“Everyone wore green and the whole school of over 200 children followed a drum beat to create a circle on the field. We were called forth to think of our responsibilities as stewards of the earth and to let nature flourish. Every child had a handful of wildflower seeds that they scattered far and wide. We hope that, next summer, we will see the flowers grow and be reminded of a really special day and the excitement of being part of an art installation, and part of making our world a little more beautiful and welcoming for all God’s creatures.”

Revd Kate Bottley and Dr Krish Kandiah were amazing speakers and worship was beautifully lead by pupils from Barford St Peter’s CofE Primary and Emma from iSingPOP.
