School News

Congratulations to Blue Coat CofE School who have achieved a Global Neighbours Gold award from Christian Aid. One of only two secondary schools to achieve this accreditation.

The award recognises the school’s commitment to global citizenship, courageous advocacy and social justice, with students and staff taking part in a wide range of initiatives that encourage reflection, action and care for others around the world. From Interfaith Week and Refugee Week to Human Rights Day and an innovative partnership with a school in India, students have explored important global issues and considered how they can play their part in creating a fairer world.

Peter Merrylees, Vice Chair said “…I’m so proud of the school’s achievement. It is well deserved and such an encouragement to all to hear about the impact we are having on future leaders, ambassadors, advocates and a future generation that will need to be increasingly focussed on the global challenges of looking after our world and the people who inhabit it.”
